GSXR1000 vs GSXR750 (with tyre warmers).
It wouldn't be a trackday if we didn't top up with Wild Bean coffees on the way, so the Coomera BP garage was the first stop. And with one of their bacon and egg toasted sandwiches heartily disposed of, we were ready.
'Twas early morning. The sun was on the rise and catching the moon fast — just like an old GSXR1000 on cold tyres against a newish GSXR750 with warm boots — yep, about a lap in and it's all over. But more on this later.

Biketech7 - Track Days, Warming Tyres and Oops!
Champions Ride Days, Queensland Raceway - 31/05/2014.
With the bikes loaded up on the Friday afternoon, we were set to leave at 6.00am on the Saturday. Leathers, helmets, boots, food and a few tools for good measure, and straight up to the Coomera BP garage for a brew and meet the others. By 7.30am we were rolling into the massive complex that is QR to find a load of cars racing round the track, and a dose of bikes already unloaded.
Over to the control tower to get registered and we were soon ready for scrutineering and the rider's brief. The weather was perfect, not too hot and just slight cloud in the sky.

Queensland Raceway - What to expect on your first track day.
Biggest fear?
I've been talking about it for years, but still hadn't done one. Why? Simple. Breaking my bike.
Yeah, I didn't want to drop it and write it off, and I know the road is a dangerous place, but you tend to ride within a different set of parameters, known limits. On the track anything goes, go as fast as you can and try to keep it upright. Harder than it sounds.
But...
Then Will, of Billeigh Photography fame, tells me he's doing a track day with Champion's ride days on his new FZ8. This sparked a new interest. And another mates too apparently, because then Dave also took his R6 up to the QLD raceway for a day's thrash. So it was time to bite the bullet.
$190 later and booked in with Dave, who was keen to do it again already, for the Saturday. There's a choice of groups with red for beginners, green for slow intermediate, blue for fast intermediate, and yellow for FAST baby!
At Dave's advice I took green. His first track day was in red, but being able to overtake a fair few riders, chose to move up a level. Good advice.

Billeigh Photography
What a difference it makes when you use the best equipment. From the tools you use on the bike, to the cameras you use to show them off. Now I just have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3, which is great for close up shots of bikes and general stuff, but when you want action shots, you need to pay a little extra.
Thankfully I have a mate who is a professional photographer and, on top of all that, he rides too! I met Will Course through work and his pics continually blow me away. The cameras he brings with him are worth more than the new Yamaha XT660X he rides, but worth every penny! Just take a look at these and cruise over to his portfolio for a look at this true talent.
